Craig + Kate’s Wedding was our first visit to the Ashes Wedding Barn. It’s a really lovely wedding venue that ooozes character and fun. It attracts some really awesome couples too including these two.
Craig + Kate are lovely. Like, really, really lovely. They are happy, fun and absolutely head over heels in love with each other.
After a minor panic at groom prep in the morning caused by a broken trouser seam which resulted in Kelly asking Craig to take his trousers off and sewing his trousers up (yes Kel can multitask at a minutes notice) and an emotional bridal prep with Kate, we headed to the barn to document these two tie the knot. Surrounded by their nearest and dearest they made the legal part official and poured out onto a sun kissed Ashes Wedding Barn patio. Everyone was greeted with drinks and delicious canapés.
We took these guys off with their immediate family to the nearby house and pond which makes an incredible backdrop. We took some pictures hung out with the bridesmaids and groomsmen and had a ball. The group shots are the part that almost every bride and groom of ours dread on their wedding day. We normally have couples saying they don’t want to be stood in front of the camera for ages and they want to maximise time celebrating with the rest of the guests. We couldn’t agree more with that sentiment so we work super quick so that no one gets bored and everyone can get back to enjoying the party. Group shots were so fun with these guys. Literally everyone was laughing and joking the whole way through and we loved it!
As we are predominantly natural light wedding photographers we are always looking for light. Always looking for good light, interesting light shards and keeping an eye out for a sunset and it’s golden light or golden hour as we call it. Now, amazing sunsets don’t happen every day in the UK but when they do they are incredible. The day of K+C’s wedding we had a glimpse of a sunset so we asked them if they wanted to hop in our car and we drove to as high a vantage point as we could. We found the perfect place to walk to the top of a hill to watch the sunset. After dodging dog walkers and dog poo we quickly reached the top and it was a beautiful sight. Golden Hour that day was simply magnificent!
Massive thanks to Craig + Kate for having us along to shoot your wedding at the Ashes Wedding Barn.
