Yellow + Blue – A Leeds City Love Shoot – Lauren + Lee

Warehouse wedding photographyLauren + Lee held their Wedding at Sandburn Hall last Saturday and it was flipping awesome.

For their Love Shoot they wanted to head into the gritty streets of Leeds City and as always when it’s somewhere urban, full of old warehouses and a splash of colour we find the best locations. Lauren+Lee were happy dodging Christmas shoppers, standing round the back of dodgy nightclubs and in general up for having a bit of fun.

We had a blast with these guys,

Ace work, Clappertons. You really do smash it in when working in the urban environment.

[…] Lauren + Lee’s Sandburn Hall Wedding happened back in May. Probably one of the hottest days of the year after weeks of rain, rain and more rain. We set off early on a very sunny morning in May to meet Lauren + Lee at the beautiful lodges that are situated in the woods on the Sandburn Hall Estate. Lauren and the girls were happily drinking champagne on the decking when we arrived giggling whilst they were having their hair and make up done. Just through the trees Lee was doing the same in his lodge with the guys. The only difference was Lee was drinking PINK champagne! I know he was a little embarrassed about this. Lauren and Lee were married in the lovely wedding room at Sanburn Hall. At the back of the room there is a huge window that was beaming the lovely sunshine onto the guests. It was a very lovely ceremony and L+L laughed a smiled all the way through. Outside everyone enjoyed pimms on the lawn while we wandered off with L+L and their lovely dog for some couple portraits. Got to LOVE dogs at weddings especially those wearing a bow tie! After the speeches and meal we looked outside onto the yellow rapeseed fields in the distance a fantastic sunset was about to happen. We looked over at L+L and just pointed at the window. We got the thumbs up and we headed down to the fields. It took us about 10 minutes to get there and Lauren walked in her heels all the way! WOW, are we glad we went. We got some fantastic images before the sun disappeared. I know those shots were some of L+L’s favourites and ours too! L+L and their wedding party danced away into the night as we left. Massive Congratulations to these guys. We had a great time with you all. Here are a selection of our favourites…….. Congratulations Kelly & Steve

Please note this post is full of puns and innuendoes.

Last Friday we attended the wedding of Kelly and Steve at Sandburn Hall just outside York. Kelly is one of my own Kelly’s closest friends back from her school days, They have a little boy called Sam who is a similar age to our Fearne. We weren’t photographing the day so we could relax as guests and celebrate a beautiful day with them.

We still couldn’t resist leaving the Canon at home so we charged the batteries and formatted the memory cards so we could get the odd snap shot through the day.

Between courses of the wedding breakfast we were taking a breather on the balcony when I got an urge to get a cool ring shot. Even if Kelly and Steve didn’t want to use the image it was something cool to do for 5 minutes and maybe, just maybe it could be used in our portfolio for the future.

Now if you know my Kelly, then you know she isn’t shy, but if you don’t know her then believe me she ain’t shy! I looked around and spotted a golfer having a swift pint on the 19th hole patio so I said to Kelly “Go ask that guy for 3 golf balls”. “Why?” she said. “Just do it!” I replied. “Errrr OK….” so off she went and came back 5 minutes later with 3 of the cleanest and apparently quite expensive balls in hand. Ooo errr missus.

We then went and asked Kelly and Steve if we could borrow their nice sparkly engagement and wedding rings for 5 minutes whilst promising not to pawn them off at the earliest opportunity. They did oblige after a few puzzled looks and a bit of an explanation.

We went back to the edge of the golf course… “GOLFERS ONLY PASSED THIS POINT!” now regular grass just would not have cut it for this shot as it was too long so rules unfortunately had to be broken. So we stepped past the sign like we had simply not seen it and proceeded to put the balls on the grass as we wanted, Kel placed each ring on top of the balls while I composed the shot. A few snaps and angles later I was happy with the shots we had so I showed Kel and she expressed her thoughts of the shots, I think she said “Cooooool”.

We then gave the balls back to the kind nameless golfer, thanked him and headed back to the wedding breakfast. We handed the rings back to Kelly and Steve and went back to our table just in time for Sticky Toffee pudding….

Thanks must go to Sandburn hall for use of their beautiful golf course, Mr unnamed golfer for use of his balls… But most importantly Kelly and Steve for inviting us to share their gorgeous day with them and for trusting us to use their wedding rings they have since asked for a large print of the image for their wall at home.

Future wedding couples beware that we will be coming asking for your wedding rings to get some fun quirky shots like this one.

Paul.
