A Vintage, DIY Wedding at Laycock Village Hall

Back in October, we shot Joanne + Tony’s DIY Village Hall wedding. We know it’s been too long in appearing on the blog but it’s certainly worth the wait. This wedding was beautiful.  It was full of love, happiness and a tonne of vintage and DIY wedding details. All of which were created by Joanne herself.

Laycock Village Hall Wedding

The ceremony took place in Braithwaite Village at the cutest of small Church ceremonies. Afterwards, they travelled in a friend’s beautiful Morris Minor up the road to Laycock Village hall to celebrate with friends and family.

DIY Bride

Joanne + Tony wanted a really cosy wedding which had a village fete vibe going on.  Joanne is no stranger to a good charity shop and made great use of them to bring her wedding ideal into reality.  Vintage wedding styling in the form of crockery and table centres were all picked from local charity shops. They also asked guests to bake cakes and bring them along for all to share.

Handmade Wedding Bouquet made by the Bride

Joanne also spent months creating all the small details like buttonholes and a wonderful guest signing book from lace and beautiful papers. She also made lace and wooden love hearts for the backs of the chairs. Even her bride handbag was homemade. Most importantly her handmade wedding bouquet was made with various fabrics and brooches which came from charity shops too.  The quality of everything blew us away! Because it was handmade I wanted to photograph it back in the location it was created, Joanne’s crafting table.

Personalised Wedding Cake

The wedding cake was fantastic, it was full of fun and personal detail to J+T. Things like Tony’s car (with operational headlights), their favourite places to visit and Joanne’s many handmade handbags she has. All round brilliance!!!

Wildflower Wedding Decorations

Hand-picked wildflowers continued the DIY wedding theme and were used to fill the teapots and jugs as the table centres. Joanne’s handmade bunting was hung all over the village hall too.

Hog Roast was served to the guests into the evening by The Spitting Pig. You really can’t go wrong with a good hog roast.

Big Thanks to Joanne + Tony for asking us to capture their day for them.

These are our faves from the day…
