A Romantic Wet Weather Wedding Day in Skipton

Embracing Wet Weather on Your Wedding Day

A lot of Wedding Couples say that the one wish they want for their Wedding Day is for it to be good weather. The reality is that we live in England and we cannot rely on the weather and there is every chance of a Wet Weather Wedding Day.

Embracing wet weather on your wedding day can be a challenge, but it can also be an opportunity to make your big day even more unique and memorable. First and foremost, PLAN!  It’s highly likely to rain so think about wet weather in advance. Keep an eye on the forecast leading up to your wedding day and prepare accordingly. Consider renting tents, umbrellas, or even rain boots for you and your guests. If your venue doesn’t have a covered area, consider setting up a tent or renting a covered space to protect your guests from the elements. Additionally, it’s important to communicate any potential changes to your guests in advance, so they can come prepared.

Creative Rain Wedding Photographs

Once you have a plan in place, embrace the wet weather and use it to your advantage. Rain can help us to be creative with our wedding photos. Take advantage of the moody, dramatic lighting that comes with a rainy day and use it to capture some truly stunning shots.

Maintain High Spirits for a Fun Wedding

Don’t let the weather dampen your spirits – instead, embrace it and focus on enjoying your special day with the ones you love. Remember, your guests feed off the energy of the newly married couple on their wedding day so if you are having fun then so are they.

For this Wedding, Harriet + Martin definitely stuck two fingers up to the weather on their Utopia at Broughton Sanctuary Wedding day as they had the best day ever!

Church Wedding Ceremony at Bolton Abbey Priory

Harriet + Martin married back in May at The Priory Church in Bolton Abbey before they headed to their Broughton Sanctuary reception at Utopia.

It rained and rained and then rained some more at their Broughton Hall Wedding. I think we had about 30 minutes of dry weather all day but it certainly didn’t stop everyone from having the best day of their lives!

In the morning, Paul headed off to Eden at Broughton Sanctuary. Eden is a gorgeous, quirky house that you can hire for the weekend or even get married in. It’s on the grounds of the stunning Broughton Hall Wedding Estate. Paul was met by the very beautiful Harriet and her lovely bridesmaids. Kelly headed off to meet Martin at their gorgeous family home in North Yorkshire.

Impactful Wedding Speeches

The speeches were fantastic. What we particularly remember is about the story of how Martin met Harriet. At the love shoot and during the wedding we noticed how much Martin loves his girl. No, infact, he absolutely adores her. The way they both look at each other they were so meant to be. Sounds cheesy but it really is true. He talked about how he chased her for a while and they actually had a first date. After the first date he heard nothing from her (awwwwwww I hear you say) BUT…..after weeks/years of chasing her on Facebook, messages and finally a successful date he eventually won Harriet over and the story will continue now for many years to come.

Photo Opportunities During Bad Weather

After the meal, we finally had a break in the weather. We dashed off into the gardens and shot their couple portraits as quickly as we could before the rain caught us again. Whilst out shooting we found an unlocked door which led to an old stable house which sheltered us from the rain and this made for some very lovely pictures.

It’s OK if Your Wedding Day Doesn’t Go to Plan

Into the evening the DJ’s equipment decided not to work after the first dance song. It just didn’t matter. Everyone had a turn on the mic singing various songs from rap to musicals and even Christmas songs. We heard from these guys after the wedding that the equipment started working 10 mins before the venue was due to close but they stayed open for another hour so these guys could party to the music.

No matter the weather, no matter what goes wrong on the day, as long as there is love and happiness then it’s all good.
