Betsy + Dan - Colourful Barn Wedding at The Norman's Wedding Barn

Betsy and Dan’s Colourful Barn Wedding was held back in the Spring at the gorgeous wedding venue, The Normans Wedding Barn in York.

When Betsy and Dan originally contacted us and explained their wedding plans we were super excited. Colour was the theme of the wedding and the main focus was fun and the holy schmokes the wedding day was exactly that.

Normally Paul heads with the girls and Kel heads off to shoot the guys but we decided to switch things up a bit and push us out of our comfort zones. Kelly arrived with Betsy at her parents house early in the morning where she was greeted by some very excited bridesmaids and her very proud parents. Paul headed off to meet Dan in central York to catch him with his groomsmen and family before they all headed to The Normans Wedding Barn.

When we arrived at the barn we were blown away with how the wedding barns looked. After the exchange of emails and many chats through Instagram pictures and then meeting them both on their pre wedding love shoot, Betsy + Dan’s Colourful Barn Wedding vision had become a reality. Both wedding barns looked amazing. So colourful but also incredibly classy.

The legal bit was held in the wedding ceremony barn in front of the beautiful twinkly lights and it looked so beautiful and romantic. After all the legal parts had been completed Betsy + Dan strolled down the balloon lined aisle whilst being showered with the most amazing colourful confetti. (you already know how much we adore tonnes of confetti).

We headed out into the courtyard where everyone enjoyed canapés and fizz and congratulated the beaming Betsy + Dan.

For Betsy + Dan’s couple shots and bridal party pictures we headed onto the farm across from The Normans Wedding Barn and had a heap of fun. We didn’t direct the wedding crew in any way as everyone was up for a laugh and a joke and they clearly just wanted to have a good time while we took pictures. The rain started, only slightly so we headed back to the barn where the wedding breakfast was served.

After the wedding breakfast the speeches were held. Let’s just talk about the speeches as we are seeing a theme developing at our weddings which we absolutely LOVE and wanted to tell you about!

COUPLE SPEECHES!!

Dan + Betsy both spoke separately during speeches but then as a duo! They bounced off each other. Betsy brought the emotion and Dan the logic and both brought, fun, laughter and smiles. It was a truly wonderful speech. Both were really nervous beforehand but as a team they helped each other smash it. Couple speeches for the WIN!!!

After the speeches everyone danced hard! Danced like no one was watching and had a ball! We managed to sneak Betsy + Dan off between dancing to get some more couple pictures with them and these are our absolute faves. These guys just needed no directing. They are completely in love with each other, relaxed, fun and everything you want in a couple.
