Never in a million years would we have thought that we could call ourselves a Destination Wedding Photographer not to mention a Panama Wedding Photographer. We can now!

To put down into words what we experienced in Panama is going to be difficult. Both Paul and I have chatted about our experiences and agree it was one of the most amazing experiences ever so far in our photography career. We laughed, cried, made friends, smiled so much our faces hurt, got sunburnt, drank great wine, ate amazing food, drank beautiful coffee and made some amazing images along the way. We also became friends with two most wonderful people Paola + Andres. They are are so in love and we honoured to be able to capture all of their wedding day for them.

It all began back in September 2013 when we received a wedding enquiry from a beautiful Mexican lady called Paola. In the enquiry Paola told us about her love for Brit pop whilst asking if we would be able to be her Panama Wedding Photographer for her wedding in March 2014 in her adopted home of Casco Viejo, Panama. We didnt believe the enquiry at first and even hovered over the spam button on the email but Paul investigated a little more and found Paola on twitter and started chatting with her. We chatted to Paola, Andres and Dominga their adorable pooch over many emails and Skype’s, even Daisy got in on the action. They knew we lived in the UK but they wanted a destination wedding photographer who did something non-traditional and a bit more creative and Pao said that there wasn’t anyone like that in Panama so they decided they wanted to fly us out to shoot their wedding.

At first we were gutted as we didn’t think we could shoot their wedding as Paola confirmed the date and we were already booked. Paola and Andres did the most beautiful thing and brought their wedding day forward by one week so we were able to be there, to this date we are still utterly amazed, blessed and proud that they did that! After some organising the flights confirmation arrived on our wedding anniversary! WE WERE GOING TO PANAMA TO SHOOT OUR FIRST DESTINATION WEDDING! What a place to shoot our first destination wedding.

Now it was just an exciting waiting game for the day to arrive.

It was an early start for us on the day we flew out of Leeds/Bradford airport. Our flight was scheduled for 6am so we set off from home at 3am. Fast forward to Panama time at 4pm we landed. As we left the airport we were met by the extreme heat and a jolly taxi driver who was going to take us to the Canal House in Casco Veija, Panama. A fabulous place owned by a cool American guy called Matt. We unpacked, changed and headed off to discover the sights of Casco.

The day after we finally met with the gorgeous Paola and headed off to grab lunch and check out the church, venue and sights of Casco. We chatted over cerviche and beer and talked all about the wedding and what the plans were. We then headed back to her apartment to meet with Andres and all their family. We chatted for hours whilst making wedding favours and drinking great wine.

The day of the wedding arrived and we couldn’t be any more excited! I headed off with Andres and his family and Paul stayed with Pao and her family. The wedding was amazing from start to finish!

One word really struck with us throughout the whole wedding, Emotion. I don’t think either of us had ever experienced emotion like it. It was truly amazing to watch and it totally changed our outlook on wedding photography and life. All these people from around the world were brought here by Paola + Andres to have a big celebration. Hot, fun, tears, laughter, emotion, fun will probably describe it best. The evening reception was held at The American Trade on the roof terrace. When we walked up there we were blown away, it looked amazing. Pao + Andres held their first dance at sunset under the dipped festoon lights.

If there is one thing we now know it’s that Mexicans and Colombians know how to throw a party! From dancing to Micheal Jackson, Mexican music, chart music, rap music and Pao’s much loved Brit pop it had nothing to do with Pao and Andres pouring Mescal and aguardiente into everyone’s mouths whilst doing a sort of conga. So many different nationalities thrown together it was truly magical to watch.

We want to finish off by thanking Paola + Andres for everything. Thank you for choosing us as your Destination Wedding Photographer. You guys will truly never know how utterly grateful we are that you found us. We miss Panama and hope to see you guys again in the future.
