Great Fosters Winter Wedding
Where do we start with this gorgeous Great Fosters Winter Wedding?
Melissa + Phil enquired with us about a year before their wedding. It was the loveliest enquiry with so much information. We knew from the moment it hit our inbox we wanted these guys to be one of our couples. We chatted through email, skyped and kept in touch until we finally got to meet them in London for their pre-wed shoot. We spent an hour or so taking pictures and then finished with coffee where we chatted for ages. Melissa + Phil are the type of couple you instantly love. They are friendly, fun and Melissa chats just as much as Kelly so they certainly hit it off. Even though Phil supports Tottenham – he was still a bloody lovely guy.
The morning preps started at Great Fosters in Egham, Surrey. We had never visited the venue before M+P’s wedding. It was jaw-dropping when we arrived. The venue is steeped in history and it’s just amazing driving up the driveway to the building. It was everything and more that M+P had talked about. Both of these guys got ready on-site with their bridal and grooms party.
The ceremony was held in the Orangery at Great Fosters. It’s a beautiful glasshouse at the back of the venue and it looked absolutely stunning. The light fell through the glass just as Melissa arrived. We absolutely love shooting ceremonies in these type of venues as no matter the weather the light is always beautiful.
After the emotional and funny ceremony (someone may have forgotten their lines during the ceremony) these guys headed out to a stream of confetti to grab a drink and say hello to all their friends and family who travelled wide and far to be at their wedding.
It was mild and sunny so we took advantage of the weather and headed outside with Mel + Phil into the gardens to use the last of the winter light. We hung outside with the bridal party for a while, had a good old giggle and then headed in to warm up ready for the wedding breakfast.
The one thing we absolutely love at weddings that we are seeing much more of lately is a bride doing one of the speeches. Traditionally the men – groom, the bride of the groom and best man usually make the speeches. Well, there is nothing more amazing than hearing a bride doing a speech too. Melissa’s especially was so touching. In the 10 minutes she spoke, there were tears, laughter and a lot of love.
Once the meal was finished we headed into the party room and you can see by these images these guys partied and they partied hard!
Melissa + Phil – Thank you for being you and for booking us. We can totally understand why you have so many friends and family who adore you. We do too!
