Leeds Micro Wedding
We started 2020 with over 30 weddings and finished shooting just 3. One of those weddings was for Kimberley + Jason.
K+J had planned all along for a small wedding of about 30 people but then had to keep moving guest numbers due to Covid and were only able to invite less than 15 people. Never the less they were determined to get married and they did!
The wedding took place in the chapel at Leeds General Infirmary. If you have never seen the chapel at LGI and you see the images, you wouldn’t believe that this chapel is inside the hospital nestled in between the working wards. It’s absolutely stunning! The small ceremony took place with their close family and many friends and the rest of the family attended the wedding through Zoom! Many people from all over the world managed to click the link and watch them get married. There were even some readings which were done through Zoom!
The best thing for us about K+J’s wedding was the amount of time we managed to spend with them. Usually, on a typical wedding day, we get about 20/30 mins with a couple. With K+J their meal wasn’t booked until early evening so we made use of the time we had with them. We decided to wander the back streets of Leeds for some city centre bridal portraits before jumping in our car to head into the Yorkshire dales.
The Crafthouse, Leeds
We drove a good 30 minutes away to the Otley Chevin where we could see the amazing views of Yorkshire at the top. K+J climbed onto the top of the rocks whilst being congratulated by passers by to enjoy the views in the sun while we took pictures. It was really refreshing being able to spend so much time with a couple taking pictures on their wedding day. We know this won’t always be the case but we are truly grateful to K+J for all the time they spent with us which included a cheeky ice cream. We then headed back into the City where Kim made a quick outfit change and they headed to the Crafthouse to carry on with the celebrations with a cake cut and a meal with their nearest and dearest.
Massive thanks to K+J for sticking to your wedding day plans. For you both it was much more about you as a couple getting married rather than the other things that come with a wedding. It was refreshing and after Covid we do hope to see many more couples getting married just like you guys.
Here are just a few of our faves from the day…
