Kirsty + Alistair’s Old Alresford House Wedding happened back in July in Alresford near Winchester.
We had been looking forward to shooting this wedding for a long while. We had never met K+A as they live in Bahrain but we managed a couple of Skype hangouts before the wedding. What we found totally amazing about this wedding is that K+A planned the whole thing over the internet along with help from their families who live in the UK.
On the morning we woke in our hotel to find the sun beaming through the curtains. The day was wall to wall sunshine.
Paul headed off to meet up with the girls at Old Alresford House while Kelly drove a few miles away to meet with the boys at a pub down the road.
We had heard a lot over email from Kirsty that she had found the perfect dress but the only place she could get it was in Barcelona. After a lot of thought and chats with Alistair she made a decision to fly to Barcelona to visit YolanCris where she was able to take the dress for a test drive and instantly fell in love with it. We haven’t seen another dress like it and like Kirsty ‘s we were swooning over it the minute we clapped eyes on it. I am sure that you will all agree she looks BLOODY amazing! The guys all looked very smart in their suits. Kirsty had the most amazing idea of mixing her favourite painting – The Birth of Venus by Sandro Botticelli and her bridesmaid’s dresses Kirsty sourced the fabric and then handed full creative control to each of her bridesmaids. The girls got to wear a dress that they loved to bits yet tied in perfectly with the wedding. Alistair’s tie was also cut from the same cloth…
Kirsty+Alistair were married in the house in a beautiful ceremony where they just smiled, exchanged mega cute glances and just giggled constantly at each other. The ceremony room was filled with the aroma of wildflowers and they looked incredible placed on the fireplaces and scattered throughout the rest of the house. Big props to Jay Archer for the floral vision.
After the ceremony everyone headed out onto the lawn for drinks and canapés. Old Alresford House is a stunning wedding venue. The grounds are beautiful and vast with lots of places to explore. Guests were able to wander around to check out the flower gardens, the pool, the zip wire (yes a frickin’ zip wire!!), tree house and all the other little nooks and crannies. The sun continued to beam, the children played on the swings, the guests all hung out and in general gave the most perfect laid back feel to the day. The flower girls even went for a swim in the pool in their dresses!
During the wedding breakfast a children’s entertainer arrived so the guests could enjoy the speeches without the children running around. We cannot recommend this enough! The children had a great time playing games and getting creative some amazing items including a wooden jewellery box for Kirsty. The guests were also kept entertained by some fabulous stationery by Liz Jeal where they had to colour in scenes dictating Kirsty + Ali’s time together as a couple.
After the wedding breakfast we headed out with K+A for some portraits. This was so much fun! No plans, we just wandered the grounds. This is where we stumbled across the bridge, zip line and tree house. It was lovely to capture them having some time out away from it all and just them being together. They laughed, joked and smiled the whole time. We then headed to the trampoline as Kirsty was desperate to get onto it!
The evening reception was so entertaining! After a lovely first dance with a tonne of confetti everyone danced the night away only taking a short break for a footy match, in the dark!
We left the wedding when everyone had finished after a tour around the wine celler. The best wine cellar in the UK (ok it might not be but we all certainly thought so!)
Kirsty + Ali, we love you both to bits. The wedding you created from all the way over in Bahrain was AMAZING! Well done guys.
