Ellingham Hall Wedding
We love Ellingham Hall! It’s a stunning wedding venue in Northumberland not too far from the beautiful coastlines of the region. We shot Abi + Sean’s Wedding there in May 2018 and when we blogged that wedding, Lauren + Mark asked us to be their Ellingham Hall Wedding Photographers too. We were ecstatic because this venue is amazing and it is one of our favourites to date!
Lauren + Mark chose to get ready at Ellingham Hall. Mark got ready with his parents in the cottages on the estate whilst Lauren made use of the gorgeous bridal suite. The light. Let us just say that again…THE LIGHT in that room is sublime. The light streams through the windows and makes for the most beautiful bride prep images. There is always something that excites us when we shoot an old country house wedding.
Once Mark was ready he headed across to Ellingham Hall to meet all the guests before a short stroll down the narrow lane to the gorgeous church. Mark headed into the church with all the guests while everyone waited for Lauren.

Lauren traveled to the church in a beautiful Land Rover Car. It was quite funny to watch Lauren trying to get in and out of the car (I know she is going to chuckle when she sees these pictures). Land Rovers are quite high to get into in a wedding dress, delicate bridal shoes and trying to dodge the gorgeous flowers that decorated the car. Lauren managed to Shove maneuver herself into the car, just! Her dad had to help her out though outside the church. I tell you what, there were many laughs at this point!
Lauren walked up the church pathway in the glorious sunshine where she was met by the vicar before heading into the cute little church.
The ceremony was conducted by the vicar who was such a lovely guy. Some churches don’t let us shoot inside the church or at the front of the ceremony but this vicar did and we are so grateful for that. It meant that we were able to take pictures of the cute looks that Lauren + Mark were giving each other throughout the ceremony.
Once the ceremony was over everyone headed to the church lych gate to throw confetti at L+M before the short walk back to Ellingham Hall.
Drinks and canapes were handed out while everyone chatted and enjoyed the autumn sun. We took a few pictures of L+M and their family before we heading into the wedding breakfast and speeches.
The speeches were held and they were full of love and laughter. It was so nice to see all the love everyone had for L+M. Lauren + Mark really are wonderful people and this showed in the speeches. It was also lovely to see a mother of the groom taking center stage and saying a few words.
Wedding Photographs on a Northumberland Beach
After the meal, we had an hour or so before the evening reception was due to commence. In this time the guests headed back to their rooms or chilled in the house/gardens in preparation for the evening. Paul then had this crazy idea to head to the beach. The beach was a 20-minute drive as well as a 5-minute walk on top so it meant that we had to take M+L away from the wedding party for about 1 1/2 hours. Mark + Lauren, loved the idea and even said it was meant to be done as they actually got engaged on a beach. We jumped in our car, which was a little easier to get in/out of for Lauren and we all headed out to Newton Steads beach.
This was our first ever time on a beach with a bride and groom and man ALIVE we need more beaches. A beach, golden hour and a bride and groom that are more than happy to scramble up a sand dune is, let us tell you, a photographers DREAM!! We can honestly say that these images are some of the best couples portraits we have shot. The light was great, the location was amazing and we had a couple who were up for anything!
Hip Hop Hurray Wedding Band
After the beach, we headed back to the party where Hip Hop Hurray (the best band EVER!) played into the evening. If you are into Hip Hop then do not look any further for your wedding band. Hip Hop Hurray are the ones! Very unique!
