Getting to know our wedding couples
There are some couples who we just gel so well with and Lucy + Tom are one of those. It’s always such a wonderful process to get to know our couples once they book us. We had never met L+T before the wedding day but it felt like meeting old friends. Throughout the build-up to the wedding, we kept in touch via Instagram. We shared our thoughts and love for food, outings, TEA and nanna blankets/cardigans. We have shared many emails chatting about the wedding.
Rustic Barn Wedding Venue near York
If you haven’t heard of Woolas well….. they are the cool kids on the block and it’s ‘THA BOMB’. A farm wedding venue located in the heart of the countryside. Woolas Barn is the perfect venue for a rustic and charming wedding. The stunning gardens and picturesque surroundings provided the ideal backdrop for Lucy and Tom’s wedding. If you are looking for a Unique Wedding Venue where you have the option to style it in many ways, then this is it!
As the buses arrived 70 people climbed off the bus and headed towards the drinks station for a refreshment just outside the barn. It was wonderful to see the many families and friends all together excitedly awaiting the ceremony. It was also great to hear the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack play out in the background as the guests arrived. Being a big fan of Marvel it had our toes tapping with the odd air grab thrown in for good measure!
Wedding Ceremony in a Stable
Lucy + Tom’s ceremony took place in the ceremony room in Woolas Barn surrounded by their loved ones. The ceremony room is the old Stables of the farm that has been beautifully restored. Giggles soon ensued after Lucy gracefully knocked over a few of the vibrant floral arrangements with her dress as she walked up the aisle. This laid-back wedding couple simply laughed it off and it really broke the ice. Finally, she was reunited with Tom. L+T read their own vows before signing the register.
Garden Games and Colourful Confetti
After the wedding ceremony concluded the newlyweds headed out to confetti in the stunning gardens of Woolas Barn. The garden area looked amazing with all the garden games and the amazing touches from Emily K Weddings and the Woolas Barn Team. Drinks, conversations and limbo dancing commenced and all with no rain that we were forecast earlier in the week! The sun certainly had his hat on.
A Wedding Reception filled with Colour
After a few hours of socialising everyone headed into the barn to enjoy the excellent food created by Baba Ganoush. The Lambing Shed at Woolas was playing host to the wedding reception and it looked out of this world! The tables were styled with colourful but rustic florals and tall candle sticks! If you are looking for inspiration for how to style for a colourful barn wedding then this is where to start!
Brides should always do a Speech
We have said this before and we will say it again BRIDES SPEECHES! Hell yes. There were 4 speeches of the day from Tom, Lucy, their best friend/man and Lucy’s dad. We love a bride speech and encourage all our couples to share speech duties, if they want to of course.
Fun Couple Portraits in a Vintage Petrol Station
Once everyone had enjoyed their feast we took L+T in our trusty van to the local village. We randomly took pictures of them at an immaculate Vintage petrol station because well, why the fudge not?! We then headed to the field at the bottom of the farm. The last of the golden hour shone down as we snapped away.
S’MORE, S’MORE, S’MORE
Whilst we were out taking photographs of L+T, the venue staff from Woolas had been busy prepping The Granary for the first dance and partying! L+T enjoyed dancing together to Vance Joy before spotting that the outside firepit had been lit. They headed outside to toast smores, drink and chat with their mates.
We worked with so many wedding suppliers on the day that are truly FAB. We have tagged everyone at the bottom of this post. A massive thanks to all the suppliers who made the day truly fantastic! From the Hair and Make-Up, Flowers, Cake, Live Music and Garden Games. The amazing planner Emily, food, drinks, and venue….you are all AMAZING!!!
Thank you to all L+T friends and family for attending the wedding you were an absolute pleasure to take images of. Some crazier than others (you know who you are 😉 ) but the biggest thanks go to Tom + Lucy. We love you both. Your weirdness like ours, Tom’s love for Marvel, Minnie, Crazy Plant lady (just like Kel. Sorry Tom she needs more plants), Lick (the paint company not an actual tongue to body parts) obsession. Tom, even though you don’t like having your photo taken, you flipping smashed it, dude!
