When Michelle + Andy contacted us and asked if we would photograph their wedding at Upwaltham Barns in Sussex we were so very excited. Paul used to work in the area previously so we knew about Upwaltham Barns and how beautiful the area was around there.
Michelle + Andy planned a subtle Scottish themed wedding. Andy wore a dashing kilt and the groomsmen were in the most dapper tartan trousers. The bridesmaids matched the colour of the kilts eventually. Why we say eventually is because one of the bridesmaid dresses was, shall we say MIA on the day. Michelle’s father had to dash out to Debenhams and try to get a matching dress the morning of the wedding! It was a Sunday before the Bank Holiday Monday so many places were closed. You couldn’t even tell the dress was different and people didn’t find out until after the wedding! Michelle wore a stunning Jenny Packham dress. What a dress too!
The ceremony was held at the barns and Michelle arrived in the glorious sunshine! After a beautiful and emotional ceremony everyone poured outside where they were greeted to delicious canapés and plenty of fizz.
The day continued to be relaxed and laid back right up until the evening when the ceilidh started playing and those dancing shoes were out. The dance floor was packed from the start to the end of their set! There were certainly some crazy dancers at this wedding!
There was one thing that Michelle really wanted on the wedding day. She loves pictures of what us photographers like to call, ‘little people in big scenery’ and asked if we could possibly do this. While the Ceilidh were setting up ready for the evening celebrations we jumped into our car and headed for the hills where we could create these images. We love these and know Michelle does too!
Thanks to Michelle + Andy for holding such a great wedding and having us along for the ride, it was a blast!
