Normans Barn Wedding
Yes, we know…Another blog this week! We have so many amazing weddings so far from 2019 we are so desperate to share them all. Meet Sarah + Joe. These guys contacted us to ask if we were available after shooting the wedding of their friends last year, Elisha + Rob at York Maze Wedding Venue. We were over the moon that we were available to shoot S+J’s Normans Barn Wedding just outside York.
In the morning Paul headed straight to The Normans to meet Sarah and the girls in the beautiful flat next door. Kel headed off into York City Centre to meet Joe at Hotel Du Vin where she room hopped with the groomsmen so they were able to get ready. After the groomsmen were ready we jumped in taxis to the venue.

We have been lucky enough to shoot at The Normans previously with Betsy + Dan so we were very excited to be back at this amazing York Wedding Venue. When it was time to get the ceremony underway Joe headed into the gorgeous fairy lit barn to wait for Sarah. Meanwhile in the flat at the side of the barn Sarah was getting ready with her beautiful bridesmaids and her mum and dad. Once she was ready she stepped into that gorgeous backless Charlotte Balbier Dress. She looked absolutely amazing as she headed to the barn linked up with her dad to meet Joe.
As Sarah came to a halt at the front of the ceremony the emotions took over and the happy tears flowed down her cheek as she saw Joe. The ceremony was full of laughter, cheeky looks and nerves. These guys exchanged rings, had a smooch and headed out into the courtyard after being bombarded by confetti.
There are so many places that are super cool at The Normans Wedding venue to take pictures of our couples. We headed over the road to a cool farm shed filled with farm machinery to take pictures of J+S before we headed back to the Wedding Breakfast. The speeches commenced before the food was served.
Persian Food from Friends 4 Dinner
We have attended a wedding previously where Persian food was served back in 2015 for Abi + Reef’s Wilton’s Music Hall Wedding. We remember how much everyone enjoyed the food including us. When we heard that Persian food was going to be served at this Barn Wedding from the lovely Friends 4 Dinner we knew that the guests would enjoy the feast. They certainly did. The food was delicious! Persian food is such an amazing cuisine and we got many tips and places to go and sample more Persian dishes from Joe after the wedding. S+J have certainly inspired us with our food tastes.
After the last of the food was eaten we snuck away with S+J to a field across the road. Sarah grabbed her amazing bespoke leather jacket before we dashed across the road. We giggled, talked about Tesco shopping receipts, let Sarah + Joe talk dirty to eat other (not the dirty that you are all thinking!). We also talked a lot about THUMB HEADS! S+J are our favourite thumb heads.
Wedding Band Entertainment
We headed back from the field, back into the barn and in to the first dance. After the first dance was played the band started and my goodness what a band! The dance floor was absolutely rammed from the first dance right until we left after 11pm. We have a few bands that we recommend and these guys are another for our growing wedding supplier recommendation list! Check the bottom of the post for the website for Brother From Another. Sarah + Joe thank you so much for having us along to shoot your wedding. You guys are absolutely wonderful people and you can see from these images how much love there is for you from your friends and family. We were made to feel so welcomed from the moment we arrived with you both. YOU ROCK and you will always be our favourite Thumb Heads.
