When Matt + Sharlene asked us to be their Colourful Wedding Photographer for their 2020 wedding we were over the moon. From the moment they contacted us we knew that we would make a great team. Fast Forward into a world of Covid and sadly Matt + Sharlene had to change their wedding date to 2021. We were available for the legal ceremony but unfortunately, we were no longer available for their new date. But by a stroke of luck, delayed and changed weddings the day became free again and M+S asked if we were able to shoot the wedding celebrations again and heck yes we could!
Paul shot the legal ceremony solo and we will blog that later in the year as we are desperate to show you these images from Utopia at Broughton Hall.
Broughton Hall Wedding
On the day of the wedding, it rained. It’s rained for 90% of our weddings now but the rain at this wedding was persistent. Would you know it rained though? Would you eckers like! M+S and all their family took it all in their stride!
The morning started at Eden on the Broughton Hall Estate. Matt and the rest of the groomsmen got ready downstairs where Sharlene and the girls took the upper floor of this amazing house. Sharlene and the girls all took the opportunity to be pampered and have their hair and MUA done by the lovely Victoria Farr. In between eating a croissant or 5 (Marushka, at least we remembered her name Neil) and drinking fizz while Matt got ready in super-fast time so he could head to Skipton and meet some of the guests who were travelling to the Broughton Hall Estate.
Once we arrived back onto the Broughton Hall Estate the guests enjoyed a few drinks at Eden before jumping back on the bus to Utopia. The ceremony was held on the decking at Utopia as the grass was a little bit soggy to have the ceremony.
Colourful Wedding
M+S were married a few days before so they opted for a friend to hold their humanist ceremony watched on by all their friends and family. After the ceremony, they headed outside onto the terrace as they had a surprise band for their friends and family. S+M had treated them to a performance from Back Chat Brass, one of our absolute favourite group of entertainers. Brass bands always go down a treat at a wedding and everyone absolutely loved it. There was singing and dancing even as the rain fell from the grey clouds above. As we said above, no bad weather was going to stop this wedding party from having the time of their lives!
Once they had danced the afternoon away everyone headed inside to eat the amazing food provided by our good friends Good Food Story and to listen to the speeches. The speeches were lovely, heartfelt and contained both a bride and bridesmaid speech again which continues our streak of enjoying seeing the ladies getting to say a few words too. They even managed to zoom in Sharlene’s brother and sister in law who weren’t able to make the wedding. Thank god for technology – No one missed out!
After the food, speeches, cake cut and first dance were completed everyone headed to the dancefloor to dance. Oh, it’s been wonderful seeing people dancing, celebrating and having a bloody good time. How we have missed sweaty bodies, spilt drinks, dad dancing and falling over on the dancefloor. It’s good to have weddings back!

You guys were amazing. I thought you were so friendly and kind and I love your accents. Matt and Sharlene couldn’t have chosen beter photographers. You were great. Thankyou so much for making their day so special and I can’t wait to see the finished photographs. I hope there is at least one where I am not pulling a stupid face (I need to grow up!). Saying those reassuring words about my cake was really kind of you. I know how happy Matt and Sharlene were when you were available for both celebrations. I totally understand why now. You are both fabulous!!
